About
Yolanda - Yolanda is shown here with three of her recent
paintings at her February 2010 solo show in Castle Hill
Art Society's Whitehouse Gallery.
Yolanda began drawing and painting in her childhood and has continued her artistic work since. After retiring in 2000 she has extended her activities from traditional oils and water colour to acrylic and mixed media, in styles from formal and traditional to naϊve and contemporary. Yolanda is well known for her capabilities with a wide range of styles and subject matter, from technically accurate trains to humorous mixed media and naϊve works, from traditional landscapes to contemporary florals, from subtle watercolours to acrylics with impact.
Yolanda loves working with oils because of the flexibility and workability of the medium, but is equally at ease using acrylics and the wide variety of materials of mixed media. She has been a guest demonstrator for several art societies and has completed a number of commissioned works.
In 2008, Yolanda donated her oil painting of the 1804 Battle of Vinegar Hill (NSW) to The Hills Shire Council's new Vinegar Hill Memorial Library in the Rouse Hill Town Centre. Graciously accepted by the Mayor, it now hangs there prominently. Yolanda has also donated works to a number of worthy causes.
Yolanda's Gallery Pages - On the gallery pages linked to this page you can see some of Yolanda's original artworks. You will see that some are either sold or currently not available, so why do we show them? Well some of them are on gallery walls and may come back on the market here in the future and Yolanda will also take commissions for new paintings crafted in the styles of those shown here.
Art Society Memberships - Yolanda is an exhibiting member of both the Castle Hill Art Society and the Macquarie Towns Art Society. Her next solo exhibition will be held at the Castle Hill Art Society's White House Gallery (6 McMullen Ave Castle Hill) during February 2011. This works best with small groups or individuals and can be tailored to their interests and experience. As well as being an experienced artist, Yolanda holds an adult education degree from the University of Western Sydney and post graduate qualifications, so she can teach.
